All three levels of government co-operate in the latest effort to protect Cape Town’s train commuters. Monday marked the first day that 100 officers, who form part of the new Rail Enforcement Unit, were officially deployed to assist security services with Cape Town’s Metrorail service.

South Africa getting deeper into debt:- City of Cape Town to borrow R4bn from German state-owned KfW Bank
The plan is to inject investment into the city’s capital programme. On Tuesday, at the mayoral committee meeting, it was revealed that the City of Cape Town is prepared to secure an R4-billion loan within the next three years from the German government-owned Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) Development Bank.

The Wine production in South Africa is drying up in the water crisis
South Africa is set for a steep decline in wine production in 2018 as the country grapples with a water crisis ravaging Cape Town and surrounding areas, a Paris-based global organisation said Tuesday.
Africa’s top wine producer is set to produce 8.6 million hectolitres of wine this year, down 20.4 percent down from 2017, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) said in a statement.

EFF leader, Julius Malema’s call for the renaming of Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) sparked a great debate over the weekend, and according to IOL, a name change is on the cards.
Delivering an eulogy at late struggle stalwart, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral held in Soweto on Saturday, Malema threw down the gauntlet as he suggested that the airport be renamed to take the name of the anti-Apartheid icon.
